1. Salvatore Ferragamo Spring/Summer 2013

In my mind, there is a distinct idea of what my perfect runway collection is. A distinct mix of ready to wear and couture; metallics, patterns and solids. Salvatore’s SS collection is one of the closest to that ideal. It was utterly beautiful. While the styling and model selection could have been better, the garments were fantastic. It literally looked like these models walked of the nearest Gossip Girl set. The collection can be best described as hard core ethereal.

One of my favorite elements was the distinct color contrasts. Half the looks, had a distinct earthy darkness, and the other half, was a mix of silvers and golds. The clothes were so smart. They mimicked the distinct style each look was trying to mimic. It was really just a beautiful collection. The lightly patterned pants and shear sweaters were some of my favorites, as well as the metal asymmetrical dresses.

The accessories are what really brought this collection home. I loved how SF brought in some great sandals as well as high arching heels to include a contrasting footwear element. The belts, bags and jewelry pieces were just as fantastic. The statement pieces of this collection had to be the fantastic trench and pea coats. The reptilian opaque was great and an amazing compliment to one of the lighter looks.

Overall, this had to be one of my favorites from Milan and proved why this is such a longstanding design house. Salvatore got it right once again!
