Damir Doma, the Croatian designer working out of Paris via Berlin, took fashion in a new direction with his Spring/Summer 2013 collection. As a champion of the goth ninja look of the early 2010’s, Doma’s fans may have expected a flowing show saturated in black. His latest offering, however, looked like the wardrobe of tomorrow’s ex-militia officer, still wearing his bulky jackets and durable leather portfolios after being dispatched but softening his outfits while journeying East and picking up hints of India and the Orient. The entire collection was very wearable and oozed luxury, especially with the circular sunglasses (a throwback from the 1920’s) and buttery-soft leather shorts. Standout pieces are the stunning Piet Mondrian inspired sweater and that classy rose red brocade blazer. Doma’s collection encapsulates what happens when luxury meets avant-garde.
